school canceled, sneaky and my state of mind

snow- more like hail

1. we got another day off from school due to the weather yesterday. in texas, wet + very cold = very icy roads but not as bad as last friday. [and we don't have the supplies to clear all the roads]

2. hopefully that video will load, its of kaylee being all excited about the snow.

3. i was happy when i saw that mike went into work. that meant that i could sneak in all the goodies i had ordered on-line that was being delivered.

4. but he came home early and i got busted. kinda. my marykay goodies came in too so i was able to sneak everything with that box.

5. i'm a secret consultant with marykay.  i use their skin care line- most of the time and wanted to try their cleansing brush.  i'll have to post a review once i use it.

6. mike likes their face lotion. even though its for women, he likes that it doesn't leave his face greasy.

7. its not like mike cares what i buy but its kinda fun for me to sneak it in. i'm weird like that.

8. oh so much for my being the awesomest wife from monday's post. mike came home monday and we started to have a "discussion." of course it was mostly his fault. isn't it always?

9. i curled our [kaylee and mine] hair yesterday and did it again this morning.  i have a hard time curling my right side for some reason. 

10. i'm trying really hard to get myself out of this fog i'm in and if that means curling my hair and putting on make-up then by golly i'm going to do it. at least i like decent while in my foggy state of mind.

appointments and reminders

1. i've kept appointment books for awhile now and am kicking myself for not keeping all my old ones even if they didn't hold anything grand, just memories of oil changes and dentist appointments.

2. thanks to pinterest and instagram, i've seen how pretty and neat they can look and its how i wanted  mine to look but wasn't sure just how i wanted mine to look.

3. so one night this weekend, kaylee and i started to write and doodle and it started to look like how i wanted it- pretty and simple yet it still documents appointments, dinners and daily to-do's.

4. i really love the feel and look of my maldens [i have a pocket being used as a wallet, a personal and a5]  but i'm thinking the personal and a5 might be too soft to write on and to carry around so i ordered the a5 original in green. oh so pretty green!

5. it's suppose to be here tomorrow but not sure now. i just received a text message from kaylee's dentist canceling all appointments for tomorrow because of icy weather.

6. i had an a-ha moment this weekend. remember how i was kinda in the blah's and having a bad case of the IBL's?

7. well, it came to me that i shouldn't care if i don't have that exciting life i crave for or any friends to talk too. i have 3 people and a furry one, who loves me and needs me on a daily basis.

8. and that is why i am here. to take care of them and to love them with my whole heart. i can't do that if i'm feeling sorry for myself.

9. i want my time with them to be happy ones. ones where my daughter will remember us singing and dancing while dinner is cooking, my husband to think he has the best wife in the world and my son to remember how he could always call his mom even at 4AM. [he did that last night, guess the fire alarm was going off at his apartment building]

10. granted i will still have those moments because i am only human and i am female but i need to remind myself these things and thats where that planner comes in handy.

so much that i actually texted them to mike as a hint.

 i normally don't do that kind of stuff.

our first real winter in texas, static-cling and i'm cleaning!

1. ollie and his cute hair cut though his bangs are too short. last night he had a horrible case of hair static. [it was much worse but tamed down once i started to take the pic]

2. so we go to experience our first school cancelation due to icy weather yesterday. all of houston was on shut down.

3. it rained all day thursday then the temps dropped to below freezing which caused all roads to be nothing but sheets of ice.

4. i'm giving all those people that were stuck in traffic or on the by-pass bridge an ID-10-T  [get it? idiot] tickets!  those by pass bridges are scary enough and to add ice on it- what were they thinking??

5. kaylee got the wii back out and has been playing once she saw that being stuck inside the house isn't as much fun as she thought it would be.

6. we did venture out for a pizza and a pizookie at bp's brewhouse. it was delicious and just what we needed after a day of being cooped inside. [i could go for another warm chocolate chip cookie with ice cream right now]

7. my diaper bag/purse came yesterday. its super big and i love it but its super big.  continuing my search for that perfect bag/purse.

8. mike and kaylee are headed to mike works right now so i'm enjoying the peace and quiet at the moment. [they both have to have either a radio or tv on]

9. i've been interested in those project life scrapbooking recently. but that means i have to go through 10,000+ photos and get them printed. *sigh* will it ever end?

10. ok, i better get back to cleaning since i'm in the cleaning mood. I'M CLEANING!!! [oooo- mr. hunky running man just ran by too]

a mug, an addiction and a new purse??

1. the husband got me this to add to my collection. so far i have houston, (2) florida and a chicago.  a friend of mine is moving back to the mainland so hopefully a hawaii one will be in my hands soon.

2. phew, man have i been having the horrible case of the IBL's! (I BE LAZY)

3. but today i actually got somethings done and made dinner. and a cake!

4. monday we went and got ham the current iPhone since his stopped working for some reason. this has happened before so it makes me go hmmm...

5. he did think about giving me his iPad as an exchange but i told him to keep it if he's still using it. it was the thought that counts.

6. i've mentioned my filofax addiction before. i should say planner addiction but i'm just trying to find the right one. so far i have an erin condren, mom agenda and 3 filofaxes with another one on its way.

7. i'm hoping to sell the ones i don't use after i check out the newest one.

8. is it weird that i use baby bags as my purses?  i wanted a new camera bag for vacation. i like my timbuk2 eula messenger but its ugly and it has velcro that super loud when i open it.

9. after hours of searching, i had an aha moment. i really love my dwell studio transportation bag but its too big and not hands free but its water proof-ish and cute so i checked to see what else they had.

10. what luck! they have a cute, striped messenger style that opens from the top with lots of space inside! (i didn't pay that much for it though, i have reward points)

and the par-tay continues

1.  my sister and her family didn't make it in till 11pm- ish friday night.

2. after getting the girls to bed i heard voices 30 minutes later.  kaylee had a friend spend the night and if she ever wanted to come back, i knew i had to put an end to that. (her grandma be like no way is she ever spending the night again!!)

3. my sister was keeping all the girls awake. they each had a gadget in their hands and her 2 daughters were eating cheese!

4. my very own rainbow loom sweatshop. you should see what my sister can make with those tiny rubber bands!

5. the girls jumping with a rainbow loom jump rope that Madie made.

6. the boys decided to leave us for 6 hours and go to top golf. i was mad. 2-3 hours is reasonable but 6 hours!! i'm sorry but mike leaves for out of town the next day. he could of spent some of that time with his family plus he was drinking.

7. they took us out to pf changs for dinner. while we were waiting for our reservations, the girls were running around looking at the boats. the last time i told kaylee to stay put. of course my sister had to pipe in and say "you know aunt kiki and her mad rules."

8. later kaylee told me she said even with my mad rules, she still had fun. after dinner, we took a 30 minute tour of the woodlands. it was a very long ride but pretty. they still had lights up.

9. mike left sunday morning so we went to the outlets. my sister wanted to check out the vera bradley store. she scored a weekender bag and 2 little purses for her girls. kaylee got a new backpack. her old one was getting a little small.

10. on the way home from the outlets, i asked everybody what they wanted to do for dinner.  kaylee yelled from the back seat:  "we're ordering pizza, gonna chill and watch despicable me 2. there you go- bam!"  and thats what we did.

11. early monday morning, my sister and her crew left.

cloud 9 par-tay!

1.  waiting till 4:30 on friday made for a very long day so i occupied some of her time by having her make some brownies for her par-tay. [they were delish!]

2. whenever the doorbell rang, all the girls would scream and run to see who it was. which i loved.

3. we ended up having a total of 6 girls [including kaylee]

4. and of course we had some trouble with the grill, ran out of propane then mike couldn't get it to work right so the hamburgers and brats didn't get done till about 6:30 while all the other food was done by 5:30.

5. but no one complained.

6. i had them snack on fruit. they ate 2 pounds of strawberries, 1 pint of blueberries and 1 pint of blackberries.

7. once the food was ready they ate mini cheeseburgers on pretzel buns, brats, tatortots, homemade skillet mac-n-cheese and corn on the cob.

8. not even a minute after they ate all that, they started on the brownies while i made popcorn.

9. this is 6 bags of popcorn. it was almost gone by the end of the night.  [our favorite is orville redenbacher's classic butter and sea salt]

10. once again, there was lots of screaming- at the movie and during commercials. the party ended at 9:30.  then it was my sister's turn to show up ....

brain dumping thursday

1. i love my pineapple beverage holder! its been moved to a nicer location, right in front of the window curtains i made.

2. doctor suggested i take iron pills because i'm low and it will help me not be so tired. not working so far.

3. took a nap yesterday and today.

4. booked a place to stay in orlando for the summer- holla! a real vacation this year!

5. though i'm bummed. my trying to eat and be healthy hasn't kicked in yet.

6. i have jumped on the filofax bandwagon- eeekkk!

7. tomorrow is get the house cleaned for kaylee's movie party.

8. i'm hoping we will become the hangout house in the future.

9. my sister and her family is also coming for the weekend to visit.  so its going to be crazy around here!

10. and some sad news. there was a shooting in my hometown.  2 people and the gunmen were killed.  i never think it will never happen to me.  i just thank god for letting me be so lucky everyday.

wsww + i love bunnies

this is my take on what i wore wednesday from the pleated poppy. since she wears cuter outfits i post what she wore wednesdays. i'm also in my pj's at the moment.

1. last week it was a bit chilly hence the indoor photos.

2. friday, we both wore our eddy and rambo t-shirts. get them here and its for a great cause! she donates all proceeds to the animal/adoption shelter [mine, hers]

3. i happened to find eddy and rambo on instagram [they are also on Facebook] and started following them instantly.  sadly, rambo recently passed away.  they were able to adopt a new bunny named marbles. eddy needed a friend.

4. maybe once we no longer have a dog and i have no kids at home, i will get a bunny.

5. i stayed way too late last night paying bills.

6. so today is a stay home and clean day. and get groceries. we have no bread.

7.  i would like to finish painting ham's room but for some reason i feel like i can't paint unless the house is clean. its a vicious cycle.

8. i also need to get ready for kaylee's disney channel cloud 9 movie party on friday.

9. and my crazy sister and her family are coming to visit for the weekend since the kids have no school on monday.

10. and something else totally not relating to this post- i have a girl crush on little red moose.  her photos and filofax planning is just so beautiful!

the weekend

november 16, 2013

1. she loves flaring her nostrils. not sure where she got that talent from. [mike does have a big nose and nostrils.]

2. friday kaylee went over to a friends house after school for a playdate.

3. saturday we cleaned house then treated ourselves to lunch outside at one of our fave. mexican places.

4. later we took ham's new weight bench to his apartment since he couldn't fit it into his car.

5. kaylee thought it was so cool to hang out in ham's crib and order pizza. we watched ham put his weight bench together then left because he had some bday celebrating to do.

6. ham texted me later that night thanking me for bringing up his weight bench. a proud mama moment.

7. sunday we drove to lake houston trying to find a place to eat lunch. a realtor had told us about a few restaurants and shops but we weren't quite sure where. thank goodness for google maps on the iPhone.

8. we decided to eat lunch at sharky's. it was our kind of place- good food and right by the water.

9. after lunch kaylee and i walked around the area while mike stayed behind to drink another beer and watch some football. we found a cute shop where i got a sweatshirt and kaylee some hair ties.

10. then came home to rest before the dreaded monday rolled around.

4. having a smelly and dirty house. [my own fault. as kaylee would say : "thats no fun!"]

5. august: osage county not playing in any of the 5 movie theaters we have in our area. [i have to go 30 minutes away]

cool:

1. eating lunch with kaylee every friday is back in routine.

2. the weather is in the low 70's. just how i like it. [even when its raining]

3. i don't have to clean my house unless i feel like it. [we have no friends to invite over so no one will see it]

4. my fiddle leaf fig that i got from ikea. i need to find a new pot for it since ikea didn't have one big enough.

5. planning to see august osage county on sunday...

1. when i'm on my computer in the craft room, this is where i will find him, at the window next to me.

2. he's looking towards his girlfriends house.

3. and most of the windows in our house are his height. it was meant to be.

4. ham went back to his apartment tonight. we will see him saturday but it still makes me a little sad. i want my family all home and safe.

5. plus, his buddies are taking him out tomorrow night to celebrate his 21st birthday. he turned 21 three days into the new year. [makes this mama worry]

6. tuesday i went and ran some errands and bought groceries.

7. wednesday i had to go back to mike's work health center for lab results. i'm low on iron. then we had a lunch date at his cafeteria then i went to ikea.

8. i found a fig plant i've been wanting at ikea for $12.99. dirt cheap in my mind.

9. since mike made fun of me last night after i told him i was going to the woodlands to take back the jacket i bought ham i stayed in today. [ham likes the jacket but wanted a different color which they don't have and mike said thats all i do is go shopping]

10. so this morning was a little boring but by 1pm it got to be okay. it was rainy which means its good napping weather which is what i did.

a new favorite saying

i made this using one of my photos from mackinaw island taken this summer and added that saying from a website i stumbled upon last night reading their faq's.

i think its brilliant and oh so true! i use to have my mind mastered but now, not so much.  i need to get back to mastering it. i think thats where determination, will power and the drive to do something is. all the things i'm lacking.

happy new year!!!

some exciting things to end the new year, not in order because that would require too much thinking on my end:

1. made turkey and ham for christmas dinner only to underestimate how long it would take reheat fully cooked meat. turns out it takes 3+ hours so we ate the sides for dinner.

2. my parents came to visit for a few days after christmas.

3. and we stayed up to ring in the new year twice. [indiana, who is an hour ahead of us and texas]

4. my parents got to experience all the fireworks before, during and after we rang in the new year.

5. the kids seem to like their christmas gifts this year. a win for santamom.

6. mike and kaylee went ice skating. i did not because i can barely walk on flat ground.

7. went to galveston to shop and see the beach and eat at bubba gumps.

8. watched old videos. we had forgotten how cute kaylee's baby laugh was and how ham sounded before his voice changed.

9. and mike got to see and hear his grandma. [hard to believe she passed away 3 years ago???]

10. i got mad at mike only once and it was only the 2nd day into the new year.
