the weekend, food and taking the fitness plunge

1.  we had a get rid of junk sale (aka garage sale) friday and saturday. got rid of all the big pieces and made about 600 bucks. [mike and ham were ready for a clean garage so they can lift weights]

2.  went to a new taco place and saw blended friday evening. that movie was hilarious and i pretty much laughed the whole time.

3. we had one of mike's co-workers and family come over on sunday for some swimming and eating.

4. we had teriyaki meatballs and cilantro lime shrimp for appetizers (from costco).  i made a new pulled pork recipe which will be my now go to recipe, crunchy asian salad, corn casserole, and au gratin potatoes. also picked up a huge apple pie and vanilla ice cream from costco for dessert.

5. they brought a huge double layer chocolate cake from heb. (i like to post what we ate so i can go back to it for ideas and so i don't make the same thing)

6. mike ran the first annual gleannloch 5k on monday.  he came in 3rd place for his age group of 26-40 year olds.

7. they had all sorts of food and tents set up with sponsors. [kaylee's awesome dentist was there, thats how i heard about the race]

8. one of the sponsors was for a 6 week boot camp and since i'm tired of the way i look, i took the plunge and signed up for their july class.

9. and after shopping with kaylee in the afternoon, came home and ordered some weight loss/health supplements that was also a sponsor at the race. (talk about feeling like a moo-moo cow!)

10. i've been trying to lose some weight before our june vacation but nothing has been working so i thought i would give this a try. plus, its suppose to give me some much needed energy.  i should be getting it on thursday and i will post results.

keeping the economy going

1. after going to trader joes for more cookie butter this morning, i went next door to nothing bundt cakes. big mistake! huge!

2. because not only did i walk out with a single serving size of carrot cake but also with a dozen of these mini ones. [the carrot cake was quickly devoured after eating left over salad. its all about the balance and no one knows but me and you so it never happened]

3. kaylee had a friend spend the night friday. we went to the alamo draft house and watched muppets most wanted. we also ate at the theatre which i do not recommend-way too expensive!

4. saturday was watch mike mulch the yard day. it looks so much better.

5. sunday we headed to ikea for another fiddle fig plant and a bistro set for the breezeway. what i had in there before was too bulky.

6. then we headed to the yard house for a late lunch. i ended up getting the biggest turkey pot pie ever seen! it was delish!

7. of course i had to stop into anthropology and found a cute top on sale which i wore yesterday and felt really cute in it. getting my hair done also helped with the cuteness factor.

8. one day last week, i decided to turn in all my gift cards i had sitting around. everything pretty much came in yesterday so my doorbell was ringing like it was christmas or something.

9. i'm still waiting for my much needed haan steam mop which should be here today.  if you sign up for their emails, they will give you $20 off which makes it the cheapest i've seen.

10. also waiting for my erin condren goodies. they had given me a $25.00 gift card for being a repeat customer. got $25 off my order and a free t-shirt. not too shabby.

my photos usually have nothing to do with my posts- i know

my usual breakfast:
greek yogurt, granola and fresh fruit

1. mike and i are tailgating with an office buddy + his wife and their friends today.

2. so yesterday we had to go miami dolphins hat shopping because they have a new logo now.

3. mike ended up with a t-shirt and a tervis tumbler but no hat.

4. we also went and ate a yummy dinner at pf changs and saw we're the millers. [pretty funny movie]

5. kaylee went to her first slumber party last night. she's still there at the moment and we got no phone calls saying she wanted to come home!

6. i feel bad though, i left ham with nothing to eat in the house.

7. but i did transfer him some money into his account to get food but he didn't. he is 20 years old.

8. i love ashton kutcher's speech he made at the teens choice awards. its what kids and some adults need to hear.

9. i've been talking about it for the past few days hoping it inspires ham. i hope he sees the movie.

10. i also love this video. i had kaylee watch it and paused it to ask her the same questions. she didn't see anything wrong with the video either.

another weekend, they go by way too fast sometimes

1. these were our wedding favors. i wonder if any of guests still have and use them. i wanted to do a different design when we were down in florida but it was already too late.

2. we haven't used them either but we're going to now. i still have another box of them! [they make great pencil holders. i put a paper towel on the bottom to cover up the hole.]

3. monday morning and i'm tired already. mike kept going in and out of the house and our alarm system has it that it beeps whenever a door opens.

4. but the morning light streaming through as i blog is really pretty.

5. we stayed in this weekend and did really good not spending much money.

6. i lied to the pioneer woman who asked what we did over the weekend. i said that we only spent $21 since we're on a budget. forgot we rented a movie for $3.99 too.

7. watched another bradley cooper movie- limitless. it was awesome!

8. i made meals, cleaned the house and the car! also got all my laundry done, like all thats left is the clothes we wore yesterday. boo-yah- take that laundry!

9. kaylee and ham have been playing the wii too. [glad they're putting it to some use again]

10. kaylee is up now and wants to watch her movie that she earned. [she slept and stayed in her bed all week without crying!]

da weekend

mike and i waiting for the return ferry

1. mike and i went and saw grown-ups 2.  i have to say it was much better than grown-ups 1 and i loved grown-ups 1!!  it was just funny throughout the whole movie. *spoiler alert*

2. got the house spic and span on saturday.

3. even managed a 3 mile walk.

4. sunday was a little rough. i wasn't feeling 100% myself and was a little blue.

5. so mike stepped in and made chicken fried rice for dinner after mowing the lawn and weeding. [this was his first time making chicken fried rice]

6. today was much better and i got some laundry done and felt really good because i had dinner started by 1pm. crock-pot chipotle beef tacos.

7. except once 5pm rolled around, i noticed that i had the temperature set at warm instead of hot. fail.

8. so we went out for dinner. [we're trying not to eat out as much] epic fail.

9. i decided to color my hair myself and go back to my natural hair color. i think from years of swimming, my hair has never been asian black and the 6 different shades of color i was sporting wasn't cutting it anymore.

10. it turned out great and i really love the new look. i feel like a new person.

*it would of been better if taylor lautner took off his shirt at least once during the movie*

ham came home!

1. i took a photo of this funny sign at one of the restaurants we ate at before our last visit to aggieland. [did that make sense?]

2. anyway, ham came home tonight. he was bored at school since he didn't take his tv and none of his roomies were there yet. [yeah me!]

3. so he's going back on friday then we will be up there again on saturday. we're going to bring a few things ham left behind like his tv and then on sunday there's a freshman convocation. [our new home away from home]

4. a few days before ham's departure, he requested that i get my crying done asap.

5. glad to report he only saw me get teary-eyed and i held it together till i got into the car and i cried only for a short time!

6. true and funny story: mike was trying to embarrass ham at target because there were lots of people around and asked him if a box of large magnums were big enough. ham said " no, those are not big enough, we need to go to the garbage bag aisle."

7. so yesterday was one of those days where i felt like i should of gotten the biggest loser mom award. i've haven't done much with kaylee this summer.

8. though we did run some errands, a little school shopping and i did paint her nails tonight in an "ode to ham's school" theme.  photo of that coming soon because its cute.

9. and tomorrow we are going to see diary of a wimpy kid: dog days. we love those movies!

10. went to the mall so mike could get his hair trimmed. i finally got to check out our new h+m store and got a new blouse and maroon color tank top to go with my aggie shirt.

magnolia trees, movies and babies

view on my way home from walking kaylee to school this morning

neighbor's magnolia tree

1. i love walking kaylee to school every morning. rain or shine. its just beautiful especially with all the very old and very tall trees.

2. jealous of one of my neighbor's magnolia tree. it has so many flowers blooming. [mine has one and its at the very top]

3. i'm taking a break from exercising. i'm in pain. like the kind that keeps you awake at night type pain. grrr.

4. i wanted to look like this when i turned the big 4 oh.  now my goal is to get in that type of shape before the big 4one.

5. kaylee's asked me if any of her friend's would come to visit. i told her one of her friend's might since they have a [crazy] aunt who lives nearby. [at least that's what i've been told about the aunt]

6. getting ready to cut the cord and ship ham off to "intern" with his bachelor uncle up in chicago for a month or so. [seriously, i couldn't be happier. he needs to be productive!]

7. i watched remember me the other day. the ending was not what i was expecting!

8. i caught the beginning of water for elephants but kaylee wasn't interested and i haven't been able to catch it back on.  the book is awesome if you haven't read it yet.

9. and i'm super happy for my favorite tv couple- they're having a baby!

10. and speaking of babies. i love how the blogging community comes together for a great cause like the one at under the sycamore.  man i wish i could adopt one of those babies!
