wearing out her welcome, i have energy and a new roof

magic kingdom 2014

1. man am i tired. we're dog sitting and last night she did not want to sleep.

2. i think she might have worn out her welcome and her parents don't come back till sunday?

3. even though i've been up since 3:45AM- seriously!  i have lots of energy [from taking plexus] though my eyes feel a little on the heavy side.

4. i even got some work done. like heavy labor type of work. shocking! i know!

5. i want to expand the flower bed in the back yard to run along the fence so i carried garden rocks and dumped 4- 40lb. bags of dirt.  i stopped when i saw it didn't look right and couldn't figure out what was wrong.

6. the exsisting flower bed curves out and i want it to be 90 degrees- like the fence,  so i need to move some hostas and rocks around.

7. the roofers showed up today at 9 and they didn't leave till about 8:30. [there were about 6-8 of them]

8. i feel bad for them doing all that hard work and in this heat!

9. i might go and get them some ice cream tomorrow so they can cool down a little while on lunch break.

10. the new roof looks AMAZING! now if only i could come up with a paint color for the siding. [mike likes one color, ham likes the other and i like the darker one. kaylee likes all of them]

my simple dream...

1. i want this house. i think it would be perfect for us. [its already pending with continue to show]

2. it still has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with a pool.

3. i think its a little closer to mike's work but he will still have traffic to fight.

4. its closer to the galleria and downtown area for things to do, places to eat and shop.

5. and it would make going to galveston easier too.

6. and i'm dreaming that it might have that small town feeling that i want. you know, where neighbors actually stand outside with beers in hand talking about how much fun the neighborhood cook out went.

7. and kaylee's friends are riding their bikes or coming over to swim like all day long.

8. and staying for dinner and to watch movies outside.

9. "forcing" me to bake cookies and brownies and to have juice boxes on hand and junk goodies in the pantry.

10. that is my simple dream.

texas 4th of july

3. mike's 3 favorite things right there

4. eating an early dinner before heading over to listen to band and fireworks

5. that's my awesome shirt i got in alabama. i wasn't going to get it because of the price but kaylee, well, she's always my biggest supporter. i'm glad i listened to her, its one of my favorites.

6. this was our first texas 4th of july. we're usually back in indiana around this time.

7. the band was awesome. they started out with one band name and did all sorts of covers. then came back under another name and sang all 80's songs. 

8. they had a big banner for kids to color on, splash pads, contests and concessions stands.

9. we came prepared with chairs, blankets, a few treats for kaylee and beer for mike. he had to go back to the car to get an umbrella even though we didn't end up needing. it got dark, cloudy and thundering.

10. i would say this was one of the best 4th of july's i've had in awhile. 

(mike liked it but i know he would of rather been in indiana. this is his favorite holiday to spend with his family and friends. maybe/hopefully he learned his lesson and won't leave me alone with his parents for a long length of time. they're his parents and i would rather be bored at the comforts of my own home.)

Oh yeah, I have this thing called a blog

on our way to alabama

1. had a great time in point clear, alabama. wouldn't object to going back for another weekend away.

2. friday we got there around 6-ish. got our room, walked around a bit then ate a yummy dinner. 

3. mike forgot his swimsuit but we were able to find one at their gift shop.

4. after breakfast on saturday we went for a bike ride. found a cute little shop along the way.

5. then we headed into "town" for some shopping. got a tea towel and a top from a surf shop.

6. headed back to go swim before it was time to go to the companies dinner/party.

7. kaylee and mike went back and forth from the pool to the beach. i plopped my hiney down on the beach.

8. at dinner, we were able to meet some of the workers that mike knew and met some new ones. (mike works in the office here in houston. most of the people at the party live in alabama/lousiana and work off shore) 

9. after eating another yummy dinner, they started the music.

10. kaylee and i boogied till they closed us down!

we're back only to be gone again

my belle and cinderella

1. this week has been busy. when we returned on monday, we had house issues waiting for us.

2. 2 of our 3 a/c units had quit working so i had to call home warranty to get someone out here.

3. we also got a letter saying that our new home insurance was going to drop us because of our roof and hard- plank/siding which is ridiculous because its all fixable.

4. so monday phone calls were made. tuesday/wednesday were for waiting for them to show up.

5. got kinda good news about the roof. it has lots of hail/storm damage so insurance will have to take care of it besides our deductible which is 1% of the value of the house. still big money but not as much for the whole roof.

6. the big a/c unit was fixable. the smaller one not so much. hopefully we can get a new one and not have it cost much out of our pocket.

7. no return calls about the hard-plank/siding yet.

8. on our way to orlando, we got a chip in the windshield which ended up growing so we had to replace that. yeah, when it rains, it pours!

9. i think today, kaylee and i will go and do some shopping. few of my plants have died and i would like to get those replaced.

10. tomorrow we leave for alabama for the weekend. (for mike's work)

*we have an alarm system and a house sitter.

getting ready for vacation thats really not a vacation for mom's

1. so our "girl's day" continues though wednesday we really didn't do much. we did get some of kaylee's clothes around for vacation and then went to justice for a few more pairs of shorts.

2. i know she could wear her shorts more than once while on vacation but i hate putting back on clothes that are dirty and by dirty i mean worn in public. the public is a dirty place. anyway, she ended up getting 2 pairs of shorts, a sweatshirt and a shirt.

3.  we came home and got our tan on for about 40 minutes. i had to take an allergy induced nap.

4. yesterday we went and got our nails done then headed to target for a massive amount of junk food for our road trip to orlando.

5. we ate vita's pizza for lunch (and dinner) and packed her suitcase so she is all ready to go.

6.  today is clean the house day and run to the grocery store for some fruits and stuff to make breakfast and a few lunches while on vacation.

7. though i saw this dress on lisa leonard and now i want to go and get it.

8. i don't want to take any of my cropped jeans on vacation. its too hot for jeans.

9. oh, some sad news, mr. miyagi, our beta fish died. he was fine in the morning. dead by night.

10. and in typical us fashion, one of our a/c units died too but we're going to ignore it while on vacation. 

planes or trains

1. we live about 30 minutes away from an airport so we get a lot of these flying by.

2. back in indiana we had train tracks that did a 180 around our area so no matter which direction we were headed (except east), we would usually get caught by one or three.  i like planes much better.

3. so this week has been good so far except for the fact that mike missed our anniversary and while paying bills, i found that he went to hooters on thursday. (his last day of work for the week)

4. him going to hooters and forgetting our anniversary doesn't bother BUT going only a few days before AND forgetting and not telling me he went to hooters, well that bothers me.

5. then he used some excuse that maybe he has something planned while on vacation because don't we usually celebrate our anniversary on vacation? (we celebrated it last year while visiting indiana) yeah, he's a good bullshitter.

6. tuesday, i woke up and bon jovi's song,  shot through the heart and your to blame, you give love a bad name was on the brain. seriously, that was my first thought.

7. kaylee and i had a girls day. (since its just us, we have girls day a lot)

8. we went to michaels and the apple store. (i returned my iPad mini for one that has cellular connection and not just wi-fi connection) then headed to olive garden for lunch.

9. after lunch, we went to barnes and noble so she could use her gift cards from her birthday and christmas.

10. then we came home and got our tan on.
