busy week recap

last week got to be pretty busy unintentionally. monday went to my parentals for the annual monday night dinner and celebrated my nieces 2nd birthday. tuesday went to look at some model homes that a construction company did. checked out 2 homes and the first one is the one that i love. wednesday evening went over to one of the guys house that mike works with. his house was built a year ago by the same construction company. still loving the "de ville". thursday i do believe was the only night that we didn't have to go some place which was nice. mike ended up falling asleep by 7:30! i wanted to share with him how much we owe on this house, not much, which i was pretty excited about only to find him snoring away. friday evening was spent over at my brother and sister in laws house for yet another neices birthday. megans folks was visiting from pennsylvania so we sat and chatted with them till about 10pm. megans mom told us that mike is her favorite person out of the rest of the fam......talk about ego booster. and then saturday we had kim and gary come over for a cookout. they were leaving at 2m for atlanta for the week to visit his sister. sunday was spent just chillin' around the house. oh- friday we had someone come and look at the house. they said its not what they were looking for. :o(

mike had informed me that if we don't sell by august we might as well take the house off the market. which i did not want to hear. being a cute house and all, i'm still ready to move. all this hard work and effort better pay off. yesterday we went to bw-3's for lunch and so i could pick up some honey bbq sauce for my favorite things swap that i'm doing and we went and drove by the land that we want to build on. just what mike needed to get back in the game of wanting to move again. i'm thinking i will go back and take some pictures and print them to hang on the fridge just to keep mike's brain on the goal. ya know, make some sort of football references and he's so there.

{thursday} + white piece of shit

i forgot to mention this and i must share. for once mike was a victim of racism instead of me. while i was in one of the shops last night, mike tells me that he didn't realize this local lady, maybe in her 50's was talking about him till he heard "white piece of shit. why did she marry that white piece of shit?" and saw that she was pointing directly at him. he was so surprised that he said nothing. i tend to find it funny even though being a victim is never funny. its funny because for once i was one of the majorities.

to start our first full day, kaylee, mike and i woke up around 3ish hawaii time. we just hung out in bed till around 5ish. {now this is kaylee, mike and i sharing a double bed. ham got the other one all to himself. spoiled.} mike, being the white nerd that he is, went for a run. went to breakfast and then waited for the pool to open to get the good spot w/the great view. that's the picture with the palm trees. ham eventually made it down eating cinnamon rolls on a fork which he ate pretty much everyday. the day before we found ham and mike new swimsuits at the quiksilver shop right across the street from the hotel. they built sand castles and kaylee learned how to swim by herself with her arm floaties on which was a relief to mike. having a monkey hanging on your neck does not make for a fun time especially in the pool. went to dinner at pf changs. mike and i love that place! mike, kaylee and ham went back to the hotel while i went shopping. i wanted to find stuff that we don't have back home. found a few things but didn't buy because i wanted to wait for the islands. knew we would be coming back to waikiki later in the trip. anyway, that's ham sun burnt laying on the bed even though he wore sunscreen. guess that's what happens when your indiana white and you don't wear shorts all summer- ever. {ok, he wears them on vacations but that's about it till this year} i woke up mike and convinced him to go out with me. kaylee was still asleep so we had ham keep an eye on her and we both had our cell phones. ended up going to senor frogs. this place was LOUD! i got a red bull and vodka while mike got a margarita till he saw the big ass beer. i ended up drinking the margarita too and like our balloon hats? headed back to the hotel just in time, as i was walking in, i saw kaylee rolling over and i ran to catch her but didn't make it on time- she fell off the bed. she cried for a little bit but then went right back to sleep. i think she was more upset because it woke her up.

hawaii or bust part 1

the flight to hawaii really wasn't that bad and we got there about half hour earlier than expected. kaylee was a super good girl during the whole flight. i had gotten her some new toys to play with but she mostly watched alvin and the chipmunks. my only mistake was not packing enough food. since it was just the beginning of the trip we really didn't feel like paying $5 for a snack box or $7 for a sandwich. yep, that's how much united was asking. at least our water and pop was free. we got a nice taxi ride to our hotel which by the way rocked. we stayed at the outrigger in waikiki. on the way to the hotel was tons and tons of shopping and restaurants. shops were places that i couldn't step my foot in: tiffanys, coach, burberry, prada, juicy culture and bebe just to name a few. some of the shopping centers had 3 levels!! now that's a lot of shopping. here we are getting some bites at the hula grill which was located in our hotel.

after eating we walked around some to check everything out. the weather was perfect. it did rain a little once we stepped foot onto hawaii soil but it didn't last long.

picture of diamond head. this was taken from our hotel area, that's how close we were.

these men were hand carving beside a hotel.

ham wanted to buy one after the cruise but we could'nt find them again. forgot where they were located at. since its a six hour time difference we were all pretty much jet lagged and went to sleep pretty early.

the second one is a '68 jeepster sport commando. i can see myself driving along the maui coastline with my hair blowing in the wind........oh to win the lottery!!!!

not a good color on me

finally get back into swing of things again. yep. its monday morning and the house is a mess with dirty dishes in the sink and laundry piled high again. its good to be back. the weekend was pretty busy. cleaned the house up friday for the showing on saturday. finished that up saturday morning- still haven't heard from our realtor how that went and then headed out for a friend's kid birthday party. it was a princess party so we had kaylee dress up in her flower girl dress that we paid 160 bucks for and just got her a new tiara, magic wand and shoes. she was the prettiest princess there if i do say so myself. returned saturday evening to head over to the jazz festival located downtown elkhart. its not that big anymore and the food vendors seem to be diminishing but we did find something to eat. we walked around some then headed over to buffalo wild wings for some beer and dessert. {good friends kim+gary were with us} oh and before we headed over to the birthday bash, kim calls me telling me jcpenneys is having a super sale on some outdoor furniture. of course for that price we had to go and check it out. got a new table and 6 chairs for under 250 bucks. for the new house of course.
sunday we went over and checked out a house for sale- just the outside of it. emailed our realtor that we would like to take a look at it sometime this week. headed over to some other subdivisions just to see whats available and then headed back over to stonegate. that's where we found some lots still for sale and its in the desired neighborhood. hopefully the construction company calls me back today so we can set up an appointment and find out if building a house is doable. meaning -in our budget.

i promise i will be posting about hawaii soon. i kept a basic journal if you will of everything we did and would like to have it documented so be prepared for some long posts. i'm kinda sad right now talking about it- i'm starting to fade into indiana white again which is not a good color on me.

getting back into the swing of things

hard to believe its friday already. been a busy week getting use to things again-time change and getting back into a semi routine. yesterday i actually took some time to sleep in! 10 am! kaylee and i woke up around 9 and i told her i was still tired and she said me too, lets go back to bed so we did. it felt great though it shorted my day some and i have a lot to do. got another showing on saturday

last night i was going through some of the old paperwork that i have on the houses that we've gone through and nothing still compares to the kelsie house. just loved the floor plan and it had the right amount of room- not too big, not too small. of course this is not including the finished basement. we drove by the kelsie house last night and saw the new owners moving in. bastards! that was suppose to be MY house- this is said with love. i do hope they will be happy in it. anyway, mike is -whats the word-going along with me in seeing how much it would cost us to build a house. i'm going to see how much the lots are over in the same subdivision as the kelsie house since that is where we want to live. there isn't too many lots left for sale. we would put in a pool and mike will just have to wait in getting the basement finished. i think we can hire handyman dave to finish the drywall and put down carpet. it might take some time but in the end it will get done. i'm now on the search for a similar floor plan to the kelsie house or i might just take the kelsie house. i've drawn out where the rooms are etc... they would just have to come up with the room sizes and this way we can change whatever we didn't like about the kelsie house. smart huh?
