bummed/happy

bummed:
1. that this skateboard was already sold before i even got a chance to see it/buy it. found on three potato four

2. we haven't heard back from butthead #2 which most likely means she is going to take us to court.

3. that hamilton failed me.

4. that we will need someone to come out and check our sprinkler system. more $$ out

5. because we are waiting to hear back from butthead #2, i can't do any retail therapy

happy:
1. to find out that i have arthritis in my back to explain the achy pain + i don't need surgery

2. when kaylee belts out singing. {its the best of both worlds + hit me with your best shot......hanana montana}

3. the funny things ham has said or done

4. when kaylee tries to say new words. on our adventure on sunday kaylee asks me " do you understand? capoosh?" {trying to say capeesh}

5. i won these earrings from kahili creations by leaving a comment on her facebook. i *heart* her jewerly.

my dining room

this morning i noticed how nicely my dining room is coming together. the crazy thing is, i didn't realize i was even working on it! it all started with this cabinet. i wanted something totally different from the modern dining table. i think it gives the room a cottage-y feel. i painted it white- leftover paint from kaylee's room and added mustard yellow and black + white scrap booking paper to the back. each row has a different design. i really love how it turned out.
i ended up taking the doors off in the middle to hold my wine.

my next purchase ended up being the tea towel from this etsy shop. its simple like the table and the color matches the color inside the cabinet. then last tuesday i ended up with the curtains. yep, the same curtains that i loved from making it lovely. they were on hold for someone else but that someone else never returned to get them. so lucky me!
the curtains tie in all the colors nicely and it adds some unexpected flair. just a few other things need to be done before i can call it finished. {like moving my computer to the office, taking down the ugly ceiling fan and maybe adding some floating shelves or artwork. still want to keep it simple and uncluttered.

fashion homage to the icon

i have always loved michael jackson and was never afraid or ashamed to admit it. while his personal life was rather strange, no one could argue that he didn't have talent.

elements of style did a fantastic fashion style homage to michael jackson. click here to read.

the weekend

so i never did convince ham to go and see a movie with me saturday. boy is he stubborn. around 10pm i got a call from kaylee. as soon as she heard my voice she busted out bawling on the phone. she said she misses me and she wants to be with me and that i need to come to her right away. it was so fantastically sweet. nothing is sweeter and more heavenly than being loved by your own kids. now if i could only get ham to open up like this! mike said as soon as he had asked her if she wanted to call me, her eyes started to tear up. after saying our good nights, ham and i went outside to watch the fire works in the back yard. we would of sat in the middle of the yard but it had been raining earlier. {whats up with this indiana weather?} two houses down from us had to at least spend $1000 on fireworks and the people behind our neighborhood too. they both had a great show going on. i wish i had my good camera at this time.

it does make me hope that we will be able to get a pool built by next year so we can host 4th of july at our place. if the weather cooperates next year, we could have a city of tents in the backyard.

mike and kaylee got home pretty early sunday. i would have liked to enjoy the bed to myself just a little longer but it was great seeing them again. we hung out at the house for while, ate leftovers then i had an episode of not being able to find anything to wear. at first i had on my michigan t-shirt and my jean crops. i felt like a boy in them. {getting rid of the cropped pants for good} after going through my closet i settled on a different t-shirt and shorts. something that did not make me feel like a boy. we headed over to bonneville mill park and went on an "adventure" as kaylee calls it.

kaylee convinced mike that her legs were broken or too tired to walk anymore so he had her on his shoulders. not even 5 minutes went by when she ended up farting on him. of course she thought that was the most funniest thing! we ended up taking a tour of the mill too. it was really neat to see how the mechanics worked by operating with water and it was built so long ago- 18oo's??? after the tour, we ate dinner at my parents restaurant and then spent the rest of the evening relaxing at home.

our non-traditional 4th of july

mike and kaylee left for his parents house to celebrate the 4th. they are going to stay the night since we couldn't come up with a compromise. i would of gone but staying for 7 long, freakishly boring hours did not sound like fun to me. plus, watching him drink from about 10am till bedtime is getting way old. {he does this every 4th} so, hopefully i can convince ham to go and see a movie with me this afternoon. get some mom + son bonding time. then try and catch some fireworks in the back yard.

i would love to start our own family traditions- like going to the lake someplace and staying the night. inviting friends +family to celebrate, play games, eat till bursting full. to me that sounds like fun. *sigh* maybe next year. mike's hoping to have a pool built and have everyone come here. we will see if that happens.

ok off to get some dinner started in the crock-pot. hope everyone is having a FUN and safe 4th of july!!

*unfortunately, no mom+son bonding time. can't convince him to see a movie. maybe if i bug him enough he will change his mind? probably not. he's pretty stubborn. don't know where he gets it from either. thats my story and i'm sticking to it!

the week so far

monday was a long and boring day for me. mike's home for the week which you would think would be pretty exciting right? wrong. he's boring. he decided to call a few buddies over to go river rafting. only one buddy showed up and since the weather was kinda crappy, they went golfing, to hooters and to bdubs. he didnt get home till about 9pm. made for a very long day for me considering i had no car once again.

tuesday was a little better. spent the day getting ready for our company to come over. i found a friend on facebook that i had not seen or heard from since 1996? we use to work together at a local burger joint when we were teenagers long long long ago. since he was in town visiting, thought it would be cool to fix him some dinner and catch up. i surprised him by inviting over our old bosses too. (married duo -steve + julie) we had a great time going back to memory lane and wonder what everyone else is up too. mike finally got to hear some of MY stories.

and yesterday, holly and i left the girls with mike and went and spent the day shopping in shipshewana. we are going to head to the flea market but once again, crappy indiana weather got in the way. we ate lunch at the blue gate resturant and i ended up buying this purse and wallet on our way home in middlebury. i really wanted the green purse but got the black one since that was they had left plus it was 40% off.

i normally don't pick pink but thought i should get away from my norm. plus it was 40% off too. {i also bought some sugar cookies. nobody makes better sugar cookies in our area than the amish} and no shopping trip would be complete without me dropping something or tripping over my own feet. this time i ended up dropping a ceramic piece at one of the stores. while it bumped into a few things before hitting the floor, few people ran over my way to see what it was because it was really really loud. once it hit the floor, i yelled out "its ok, its not broken!"
