hawaii or bust part 1

the flight to hawaii really wasn't that bad and we got there about half hour earlier than expected. kaylee was a super good girl during the whole flight. i had gotten her some new toys to play with but she mostly watched alvin and the chipmunks. my only mistake was not packing enough food. since it was just the beginning of the trip we really didn't feel like paying $5 for a snack box or $7 for a sandwich. yep, that's how much united was asking. at least our water and pop was free. we got a nice taxi ride to our hotel which by the way rocked. we stayed at the outrigger in waikiki. on the way to the hotel was tons and tons of shopping and restaurants. shops were places that i couldn't step my foot in: tiffanys, coach, burberry, prada, juicy culture and bebe just to name a few. some of the shopping centers had 3 levels!! now that's a lot of shopping. here we are getting some bites at the hula grill which was located in our hotel.

after eating we walked around some to check everything out. the weather was perfect. it did rain a little once we stepped foot onto hawaii soil but it didn't last long.

picture of diamond head. this was taken from our hotel area, that's how close we were.

these men were hand carving beside a hotel.

ham wanted to buy one after the cruise but we could'nt find them again. forgot where they were located at. since its a six hour time difference we were all pretty much jet lagged and went to sleep pretty early.

i am in love

with these 2 babies!!! the first one is a '84 jeep wagoneer. i can see myself in one of these buying groceries or with a couple of surfboards hanging out the back........

the second one is a '68 jeepster sport commando. i can see myself driving along the maui coastline with my hair blowing in the wind........oh to win the lottery!!!!

not a good color on me

finally get back into swing of things again. yep. its monday morning and the house is a mess with dirty dishes in the sink and laundry piled high again. its good to be back. the weekend was pretty busy. cleaned the house up friday for the showing on saturday. finished that up saturday morning- still haven't heard from our realtor how that went and then headed out for a friend's kid birthday party. it was a princess party so we had kaylee dress up in her flower girl dress that we paid 160 bucks for and just got her a new tiara, magic wand and shoes. she was the prettiest princess there if i do say so myself. returned saturday evening to head over to the jazz festival located downtown elkhart. its not that big anymore and the food vendors seem to be diminishing but we did find something to eat. we walked around some then headed over to buffalo wild wings for some beer and dessert. {good friends kim+gary were with us} oh and before we headed over to the birthday bash, kim calls me telling me jcpenneys is having a super sale on some outdoor furniture. of course for that price we had to go and check it out. got a new table and 6 chairs for under 250 bucks. for the new house of course.
sunday we went over and checked out a house for sale- just the outside of it. emailed our realtor that we would like to take a look at it sometime this week. headed over to some other subdivisions just to see whats available and then headed back over to stonegate. that's where we found some lots still for sale and its in the desired neighborhood. hopefully the construction company calls me back today so we can set up an appointment and find out if building a house is doable. meaning -in our budget.

i promise i will be posting about hawaii soon. i kept a basic journal if you will of everything we did and would like to have it documented so be prepared for some long posts. i'm kinda sad right now talking about it- i'm starting to fade into indiana white again which is not a good color on me.

getting back into the swing of things

hard to believe its friday already. been a busy week getting use to things again-time change and getting back into a semi routine. yesterday i actually took some time to sleep in! 10 am! kaylee and i woke up around 9 and i told her i was still tired and she said me too, lets go back to bed so we did. it felt great though it shorted my day some and i have a lot to do. got another showing on saturday

last night i was going through some of the old paperwork that i have on the houses that we've gone through and nothing still compares to the kelsie house. just loved the floor plan and it had the right amount of room- not too big, not too small. of course this is not including the finished basement. we drove by the kelsie house last night and saw the new owners moving in. bastards! that was suppose to be MY house- this is said with love. i do hope they will be happy in it. anyway, mike is -whats the word-going along with me in seeing how much it would cost us to build a house. i'm going to see how much the lots are over in the same subdivision as the kelsie house since that is where we want to live. there isn't too many lots left for sale. we would put in a pool and mike will just have to wait in getting the basement finished. i think we can hire handyman dave to finish the drywall and put down carpet. it might take some time but in the end it will get done. i'm now on the search for a similar floor plan to the kelsie house or i might just take the kelsie house. i've drawn out where the rooms are etc... they would just have to come up with the room sizes and this way we can change whatever we didn't like about the kelsie house. smart huh?

and i'm back

hello- i'm back from my super duper hella of a vacation. actually returned yesterday morning but having to deal with no sleep on the flight {very uncomfortable} and time changes just couldnt get in the right frame of mind of blogging. that and the fact that my desktop decided to take a dump on me right before leaving for hella of vacation and has now decided to stop working all together. i have lots to share- like over 700 pictures. i wont share them all, just the good ones or 1 or 2 to represent my story, but it will have to wait till i download psc 3 onto the laptop so i make them all pretty. this will get done hopefully in between loads of laundry and kaylee. wait- she's still sleeping (yeah) and i cant do laundry without flooding more water into the basement. did 2 loads of laundry and finally found the source of the problem, hopefully. got the septic guy coming out to clean it out and roto root the pipes. we have a 45 degree angle right underneath the driveway. why would anyone make a 45 degree angle pipe is beyond me, must of been a smart thinking man coming up with that idea. enough said.

{i still feel like i'm on a boat for some reason. better get some breakfast before i get sick}

excitement in the air

yep. i'm giddy as a school girl right now because tomorrow evening starts our wonderful vacation to hawaii. we head up to schaumburg, illinois for the night and then wednesday morning around 10:30am we will be in the air on our way. i realize how sad all you blog readers {ok, one of you- hi wendy!} will be- no wonderful, funny, witty posts till i return but i will have lots to share when i do return, if i ever decide to return. i might "accidentally" miss my flight or run away.

i like to think that i am the witty, crafty one in the family but this time the husband gets the credit. his ma, as he calls her {no they are not from kentucky though laporte could be called "little kentucky" hahaha} and i have been passing back and forth this ugly, pickle ornament that i bought when i worked at pier 1. its been almost 5 years now that we started this. the catch is that it has to be a surprise and to try not to pass it at a holiday or birthday unless it kinda goes with the gift. i got it back when she had surgery back in february. the brilliant plan is that since we are all staying in the same hotel before the cruise leaves on saturday, i'm going to have the front desk personnel give it to her once she checks in on friday.

i tried to have it look like a professional business is giving this to her. inside the thank-you card, i'm thanking her for choosing us, KMHK {krist, mike, ham + kaylee} travel agency since they had us book their ENTIRE trip. they're not very computer savvy. it should be pretty funny once she sees the pickle ornament in hawaii of all places.

new kayleeism:
maui = meow-ee
alvin and the chipmunks = alvin and the chickmunks

*mike's ma side of the family going on the cruise: mike's parents + brother. aunt diane + don, uncle steve + his 3 kids, grandma rosie, uncle dave + shari, cousin nate + lindsay and don stanton {he gave all us money to take this vaction} not going: cousin jessica + kyle- they have a baby coming in july}, cousin tiffany, cousin eric+natalie
